Project Description

Held on the last weekend of September every year, the Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival is an immense, joyous celebration of Galway City, its land and sea, and, of course, the people who make it such a great place to call home.

Inviting visitors from around the globe to come dance, dine, and delight in the local flavours and traditions of Galway, it’s the most internationally recognised Irish festival after St Patrick’s Day and, established in 1954, is the world’s longest-running oyster festival.

Bring the family or head down with friends – everyone is welcome at the Galway International Oyster and Seafood festival. Three days of fabulous events will ensure you have an unforgettable experience on the Wild Atlantic Way. Follow seafood trails, try your strongest hand in shucking competitions like the Oyster Olympics and the World Oyster Opening Championship, hear what the experts have to say at foodie talks, or prime your palate in some of Galway’s best restaurants at incredible tasting events.

The festival marquee will provide visitors with plenty of entertainment, while family activities will keep the little ones happy and a Mardi Gras-style gala event will wow.

Don’t miss it.
